I know I have written of my frustration with the stupidity of drivers here in the Bangor area when it comes to merging on our highways. Each day I feel like I take my life in my hands. The problem for the most part is not those on the highway. It is the mergers fault. Should people get over. Yes they should, but the fact is sometimes one cannot get over.
When I get, what I call, hung out to dry in attempting to merge, and am out there waiting, inevitably some clown will come up behind me on the on ramp and as the lanes clear attempt to merge before me, or go out around me. This is where the trouble starts. People are assuming they can merge and then are surprised when their are people in front of them.
In both cases today, on my trip North toward the mall and on my return home, it was evident that accidents on both on ramps were a result of those merging being rear ended.
I do not see this improving. It is a miracle there are not accidents each day. People are just not smart. Another of the many things I just do not understand.
