General Moters Is Now The Worlds Biggest Automaker

General Motors is now the biggest automaker in the world. Think about what that means. General Motors, the company that was so big, so strong, so integral to the economy that it was once said if it is good for G M it is good for America. General Motors who very recently, early in the Obama administration, filed for bankruptcy and was bailed out by the government.

At the time there was much talk from the right that this was a terrible investment and that the business was not there to support General Motors being a viable business.

Yet hear we are just two years later and G M is selling more cars than any other company. Chrysler increased their sales by percentage more than any other company and Ford, which did not take bailout money, is prospering.

Anyone who thought saving GM was a bad idea cannot now stand by that idea. Of course it is all based on perspective. I felt like there should have been no bailout of AIG and the banks but was ambivalent about GM.

I would be fibbing if I acted like I knew the GM bailout would work. I still would much rather we invest and take a chance on American workers than American bankers.

In this case it worked. Obama should be congratulated.
