It has been passed by the Senate. The house had earlier passed but today several Republicans including our two Maine Senators voted to repeal DADT and follow the Pentagon's suggestion that the policy be repealed.
So over the next year or so we will see this policy disappear. I think that while we as parents do not wish our children to be gay that we want them to have a good life if they are. Part of a good life is feeling whole and valued. This tells those people that they are welcome as Americans.
Was there ever a case to be made that it was not so.
